Man Arrested After Chase in Covington
A man was arrested in Covington Tuesday night after fleeing from police.
Edvey Belton allegedly ran a stop sign while driving a 2010 Ford Fusion and an officer attempted to make a stop.
Instead, police say, Belton fled through the St. Elizabeth Hospital parking lot, passing by the emergency room entrance.
Belton then fled on foot from the vehicle while it was still moving, but was captured at 16th Street and Jefferson Avenue.
A search of Belton resulted in the discovery of an oxycodone pill and a baggie of marijuana, police said. He was also wanted on an outstanding warrant out of Ohio for a parole violation.
Belton, 31, was booked into the Kenton County Detention Center and charged with first degree fleeing/evading police in a motor vehicle, first degree possession, possession of marijuana, and disregarding a stop sign.
He was to be arraigned in Kenton District Court on Wednesday morning.
