NKU Chase Grad, Democrat Takes SC Congressional Seat
Joe Cunningham, a graduate of Northern Kentucky Chase College of Law, won a Congressional seat in South Carolina on Tuesday night.
The Democrat defeated Republican nominee Katie Arrington, with 50.56 percent of the vote.
Arrington had defeated incumbent Republican Rep. Mark Sanford, the former South Carolina governor, who drew national headlines years ago for an extramarital affair and a lie about hiking the Appalachian Trail, in the GOP primary earlier this year.
She had the backing of President Donald Trump.
Mark Sanford has been very unhelpful to me in my campaign to MAGA. He is MIA and nothing but trouble. He is better off in Argentina. I fully endorse Katie Arrington for Congress in SC, a state I love. She is tough on crime and will continue our fight to lower taxes. VOTE Katie!

Cunningham is a native of Kuttawa, a city in western Kentucky.
He earned a law degree from Chase after enrolling there in 2011.
