A Union man is missing and now Boone County Sheriff's deputies are searching for him.
Earl "Josh" Callen, 39, was reported missing on Monday just before 8 p.m. after his family had not heard from him for more than 24 hours.
He was reportedly with friends on Sunday at his residence on the 12300 block of Lower River Road.
According to the sheriff's office, Callen suffered a psychotic episode and ventured into the nearby woods. He has not been seen or heard from since.
Deputies said that it is not uncommon for Callen to spend an extended period of time in the woods but he left his dog behind along with his mobile phone, which investigators believed to be unusual for him.
Boone County Emergency Management assisted in an active search of the area but weather conditions limited visibility. Tracking and cadaver dogs were also brought in but there was no sign of Callen.
Callen is a white man with a beard, stands 5'11", and weighs 175 pounds, with long brown hair that extends past his shoulder. He has a Jesus tattoo on his chest and a bump on his left cheek.
Anyone with information should call police.
