Alexandria Police Chief Retires

Alexandria Police Chief Michael Ward announced his retirement at this week's city council meeting.

Ward began his career in law enforcement forty years ago, when he started as a security officer in the United States Air Force in 1978.

In November of last year, he decided to retire after marking his 40th anniversary in the field.

Ward, according to a city announcement, thanked the mayor and city council for their support.
