Man Sentenced for Striking Flight Attendant, Forcing Plane to Land at CVG
A man was sentenced in U.S. District Court on Thursday after confessing to striking a flight attendant and forcing a plane to land to Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG).
Donald Zuppo, Jr., 24, of Youngstown, Oh., was on a flight from Phoenix to Cleveland on March 20, 2018, when he became agitated, he told prosecutors, and struck a flight attendant with his fist.
The flight crew diverted the aircraft for a landing at CVG.
Judge David Bunning sentenced Zuppo to 31 days in jail, followed by seven months of home detention.
Zuppo was also ordered to pay restitution to the flight attendant and will be on supervised federal probation for two years.
