Villa Madonna Seniors Named National Merit Finalists
Two Villa Madonna Academy seniors are National Merit Finalists.
Hannah Hassoun and Ben Zalla will now continue on their quests for some of the 7,500 National Merit scholarships worth more than $32 million.
The program is an academic competition for students who take the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
Hassoun, of Hebron, was also part of the Kentucky Governor's Scholars Program. She is also an accomplished cellist and is co-chair of the cello section for the Northern Kentucky Youth Symphonia. She is on the swim and track teams at Villa.
Zalla, of Taylor Mill, scored a perfect 36 on the ACT, and is a nominee for the 2019 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. He has also scored 1,000 career points as a member of the Villa basketball team.
