Campbell Co. Outlasts Walton-Verona, Advances to Semifinals
The Campbell County Camels are now in the semifinals of the KHSAA Sweet 16 boys basketball state tournament.
Campbell County outlasted Walton-Verona in a quarterfinal match-up at Rupp Arena featuring two Northern Kentucky squads.
Reid Jolly led the Camels with 13 points while Tanner Lawrence added 12 and Drew Wilson scored 10.
The Camels led the entire game, except for the roughly two minutes in which the two teams were tied. A close game throughout, at halftime, Campbell County led 23-18. The Camels stretched their lead to seven heading into the final quarter and held on till the end.

The Bearcats had only one scorer in double figures. Dieonte Miles had 10 points in the losing effort.
Walton-Verona's season ends as 8th Region champions with a record of 28-6.
Campbell County (30-4), champions of the 10th Region, will play the winner of Louisville Trinity and Ashland Blazer in Saturday's semifinal game in Lexington.
The Camels are the last of three Northern Kentucky teams sent down state this season.
Covington Catholic, the defending state champion, went down in defeat at the hands of Scott County, 64-61, in the opening round when a miraculous comeback by the Colonels, which trailed by 18 with 1:39 to play, came up short.
