Champions: Thomas More Wins NCAA Women's Basketball Title
The Thomas More Saints are champions of NCAA Division III women's basketball.
The Saints won the title on Saturday night, defeating Bowdoin, 81-67, in the finals in Salem, Va.
Thomas More finished the season undefeated with a record of 33-0.
TMU controlled the pace for much of the game, leading at the half, 38-34.
The second half proved to be better for the Saints, who pulled away for the victory.
Kaela Saner led the Saints with 20 points while Shelby Rupp and Madison Temple added 17 points apiece, and Emily Schultz scored 14.
Temple was named the Most Outstanding Player and Rupp was added to the Championship's All-Tournament Team.
The title marks the third in five years for the Saints. Thomas More won the championship in 2015 and 2016 as well, though the NCAA later vacated the 2015 win.
