Five Injured in Covington Shooting, Police Say
Five people were injured by gunfire in Covington on Tuesday night, police said Wednesday.
Originally, the Covington Police Department reported that two people were shot and transported from the scene on 300 block of East 13th Street.
Officers responded to a call about gunshots at around 8:52 p.m. on Tuesday.
They found five people suffering from what police called "superficial or non-life threatening injuries".
Police identified the five victim as Simon Jones, 32, Kevin Jones, 51, Zakori Griffin, 18, Samuel Hayden, 28, and Yawshura Jones, 23, all of Covington.
No arrests have been made. Police said that the suspected vehicle involved in the shootings is a black or dark-colored sedan with tinted windows.
Meanwhile, about seventy-five minutes later, Covington Police responded to a second report of gunfire on the 1900 block of Greenup Street.
Officers found several bullet holes in the front window at one home. Witnesses told police, according to a news release, that the shots were fired from a newer white vehicle with four people inside.
Investigators do not believe anyone was shot on Greenup Street and it is not yet known where the Greenup and 13th streets shooting are related.
