NKU's McDonald Among 20 Players Selected for All-Star Game
This season he became Northern Kentucky's all-time leading scorer and rebounder, led the Norse to its second-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament, and now senior Drew McDonald will appear in another game.
The Cold Spring native and Newport Central Catholic graduate was one of twenty players selected to compete in the annual National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Reese's College All-Star Game.
The game is part of Reese's Final Four Friday in Minneapolis and will be played at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, on the same court at US Bank Stadium where the Final Four begins the next day.
CBS Sports Network will air the game, and live stats will be available at http://nabc.statbroadcast.com/.
McDonald was also chosen to represent the Horizon League in the Dos Equis 3x3U Championship, a three-on-three event also set to begin on April 5.
This season, McDonald averaged 18.7 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.
McDonald is NKU's all-time leader in scoring (2,066 points), rebounds (1,081) and games played (131). He is one of five active players in DI basketball with at least 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in their career. Fellow all-star game participant John Konchar (Purdue Fort Wayne) joins McDonald on that list.
Northern Kentucky finished the season 26-9, sharing a regular season Horizon League title with Wright State, and winning the conference tournament and its automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Norse lost in the opening round to Texas Tech, 72-57.
