Teen Stabbed in Union, 18-Year Old Turns Self In
A man was arrested Tuesday, accused of stabbing a 15-year old boy.
August R. Schroer, 18, of Union, was charged with first degree assault.
According to the Boone County Sheriff's Office, Schroer confessed to stabbing the boy after a recent "falling out."
According to the sheriff's office, Schroer was walking with friends on Richmond Road in Union when he was confronted by the teen victim, who shoved and knocked down Schroer. Schroer stood up, pulled out a pocket knife, and told the victim "to get back."
When the victim came at Schroer with a raised fist, the sheriff's office reported, Schroer stabbed the boy once in the abdomen.
Schroer said that he acted in self-defense and stabbed the boy out of fear of being punched.
Schroer ran from the scene and called Boone County Dispatch.
He was still in possession of his knife when told EMS staff on scene of the stabbing that he had stabbed the boy. Schroer dropped the knife without incident, the sheriff's office said, and stayed at the scene until deputies arrived.
As of last night, the victim was in surgery at University Medical Center in Cincinnati. Further details on his condition were not immediately available.
