Bar Louie to Close at Newport on the Levee
Bar Louie, a longtime tenant at Newport on the Levee since the entertainment destination opened in 2001, is closing.
The announcement came Wednesday that that day would be its last in operation.
The closure was met with a farewell from the Levee on social media.
"Thank you, Bar Louie, for all the drinks and laughs you have brought to the Levee since 2002! We want to hear your favorite memories and see your pictures and posts from the past 17 years," a Facebook post said.
The news follows last week's announcement that the new owners of Newport on the Levee, Cincinnati-based North American Properties Group, announced that it had hired its team to handle the forthcoming redevelopment. North American purchased the site last year for $100 million with plans to invest another $100 million in transforming the site.
Bar Louie's closure follows last year's departure of another longtime tenant, Mitchell's Fish Market.
In 2015, when Claddagh Irish Pub was closed at the Levee, it was announced that Bar Louie would expand from its second floor space to include Claddagh's former first-floor space.
