Photos: Kentucky Derby Party at Hotel Covington
The Kentucky Derby made history on Saturday as for the first time in its 145 years, the unofficial winner was disqualified.
Maximum Security had thrilled the crowd at Churchill Downs in Louisville with a length-and-a-half victory, but his movement in the stretch cost him the blanket of roses bestowed upon the champion.
Longshot Country House was crowned the winner instead.
Meanwhile, at Hotel Covington, fans donned their best Derby suits and hats and enjoyed cocktails and races, walk-up window food, and contests, as well as a pop-up shop for slick Derby ties and bowties.
RCN's Brian Frey produced these photos.
