Murder Charge Pressed in Fatal Taylor Mill Crash
Kenton County Police charged a man with murder after a fatal crash in Taylor Mill on Wednesday.
Crystal Buckley, 39, of Independence, was killed when a 2009 STS that she was a passenger in and that was driven by her husband, Yakema Buckley, 39, also of Independence, was traveling south on Pride Parkway when it crossed the center median and crashed into a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban.
Yakema Buckley is now charged with murder and second degree assault.
Christopher Fessel, 36, of Independence, the driver of the Suburban, suffered injuries and was transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
Kenton County Commonwealth's Attorney Rob Sanders announced Thursday that Yakema Buckley was taken into custody by Cincinnati Police after he was released from UC Medical Center where he was treated for injuries.
Buckley is awaiting extradition to Kenton County.
According to the warrant issued for Buckley's arrest, his urine tested positive for multiple drugs including fentanyl, cocaine, marijuana, opiates, and benzodiazepines. The warrant reads that Buckley used "extreme indifference" in causing the fatal crash.
One other passenger in the Suburban was also injured.
