Part of Highwater Road to Be Closed for Days
The heavy rains and a water main break combined to cause heavy damage to a stretch of Highwater Road between Bromley and Villa Hills.
Kenton County Emergency Management Director Steve Hensley told The River City News that the weather and the water main break undermined a portion of the roadway. "It's going to make it necessary for us to close Highwater for a period of time until we can get in there and repair it and make it safe for travel," Hensley said.
The impacted section is between the 1600 and 1700 blocks.
Hensley said the closure could take a week, or longer. "It depends on the weather," he said, "and what it does to our ability to do the necessary repairs."
In an updated news release sent by Kenton County later on Monday, motorists were encouraged to utilize the signed detour along Short Amsterdam Road and Bromley-Crescent Springs Road.
Sleepy Hollow Road was also closed over the weekend due to the onslaught of rainfall.
