Winner Claims $1 Million Powerball Ticket Sold in Florence
The winner of a $1 million Powerball lottery jackpot, won from a ticket purchased in Florence, has come forward.
But, according to the Kentucky Lottery, the winner will remain anonymous.
On Wednesday it was announced that a ticket purchased at the Dixie Market at 7804 Dixie Highway was a big winner after matching five numbers and only missing the Powerball.
Dixie Market will receive $10,000 for selling the winning ticket.
An image of the actual ticket is seen above.
Line C on the ticket matched the winning white ball numbers drawn – 01, 05, 16, 22 and 54. This ticket had the Powerball as 2, and the Powerball number drawn was 24. If the player had also matched the Powerball, they would’ve won the game’s top prize of $122 million.
The winner plays regularly at Dixie Market.
“When I walked in, the clerk said, ‘It was you, wasn’t it?’ I laughed and said ‘yeah, right’. I went over to buy a soda and scan my ticket," the anonymous winner said in a news release. "All of a sudden, the ticket checker tells me I have a $1 million winner!”
“The clerk then said, ‘Now I know it’s you. You’re shaking too hard’.”
While claiming the prize, the winner’s fiancé asked if they could finally get a new mattress. The winner responded, “It’s possible”.
The Powerball jackpot for Saturday night’s drawing stands at an estimated $137 million.
