Boy, 11, Dies in Neighbor's Pool Near Florence
An 11-year old boy was found unconscious inside a neighbor's pool in unincorporated Florence on Saturday. He later died.
The Boone County Sheriff's Office responded to the 8200 block of Rose Petal Drive at around 5:12 p.m. after receiving a report of a missing autistic boy.
Minutes later the boy was found unconscious in the pool and later pronounced dead at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence.
The sheriff's office identified the boy as Mamadou Ba.
He had been missing for twenty minutes.
The family had called 911 and when deputies arrived it was learned that Mamadou's family went to a neighbor's home that has a pool enclosed by a fence in the backyard.
Mamadou was found submerged in the water.
The neighbor attempted to perform CPR.
The sheriff's office reported that the boy's death appears to be a tragic accident.
It is believed that Ba jumped over the neighbor's fence, removed his shirt, and got in the water.
