Wilder Names New Police Chief
Correction: An earlier version of this article identified the Wilder Mayor with the wrong last name. He is Bob Arnold.
Officer Chad Martin is now Chief Chad Martin.
The City of Wilder announced Martin's promotion to lead the city's police department effective Monday.
Martin joined the department in 2016 and has been a police officer since 1998.
"Chad has a very diverse background and is the kind of forward-thinking leader the city needs at this time as we embark on implementing our comprehensive plan," Wilder Mayor Bob Arnold said.
Martin served in the U.S. Navy, owns a business, and has been honored with many awards and achievements during his law enforcement career, a news release said.
He also volunteers at schools, churches, and businesses, offering insights on how to respond in active shooter situations.
Martin replaces Andrew Williams, who retired after twenty-one years with the city.
Williams will be honored at a reception at the Wilder city building on Friday.
Meanwhile, the city is looking for Martin's replacement on the force, and specifically seeks a lateral hire from another department.
