Newport Restaurant Named Among Nation's Best New Restaurants
A Newport restaurant is ranked among the sixteen best new restaurants in America by the online foodie site Eater.
The Baker's Table, which opened last year, was noted for its "rustic American dishes, top-tier baking, and cozily eclectic dining room."
The daytime cafe was ranked among restaurants from some of the country's largest cities.
It is located at 1004 Monmouth Street.
"But if I lived nearby, I’d wander in for the easy comforts of a full-bodied tomato soup served alongside a grilled cheese on Willocks’s glorious sourdough, a kale Caesar studded with brioche croutons, and a chewy, salted chocolate chip cookie. Even a regular might feel like they’re on holiday — as long as there are still a few bites left on the table," wrote Eater restaurant editor Hillary Dexler Canavan.
The Baker's Table bakes all of its own bread and offers a rotating menu of seasonal and local ingredients. It opened in December by husband-and-wife team David Willocks, the chef, and designer Wendy Braun.
The restaurant expects to add dinner service in the fall with a menu that features hand-made pasta dishes and other plates inspired by Italy, France, and the American South.
