Children, Inc. Announces Merger with Cincinnati Organization, Name Change
Children, Inc. will now be known as Learning Grove.
The Covington-based education firm announced Friday that it is merging with Cincinnati Early Learning Centers, Inc., and will jointly be known as Learning Grove.
The boards of both nonprofit organizations voted on Thursday night to make the change.
The present location of Children, Inc. headquarters at Fourth Street and Madison Avenue will remain occupied by the new firm.
Both agencies have operated for more than forty years and serve more than 3,200 students in their early child care and education programs.
Children, Inc. Chief Executive Officer Shannon Starkey-Taylor will serve in the same role at Learning Grove. Cincinnati Early Learning Centers' Patti Gleason will serve as chief operating officer.
“This partnership will allow us to support additional children and families in a more meaningful way," Gleason said. "This exciting opportunity will improve the lives of children and fami- lies while strengthening our region for generations to come.”
“The future of our community is determined by the start we give our youngest children," Starkey-Taylor said. "This union enhances our ability to implement the best of what early childhood research says is possible to benefit the children of our region, especially for the ones who need it most.”
Learning Grove will continue to receive funding from United Way of Greater Cincinnati and to work with local schools and existing initiatives in both Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, a news release said.
