Boone Fiscal Court Votes to Lower Property Tax
The Boone County Fiscal Court voted to lower the county property tax rate at its meeting last week.
The rate was reduced from 10.4 to 10.2 cents per $100 assessed value.
The fiscal court has voted to lower or keep the rate the same in nine of the last ten years.
Property tax revenue in the county supports services such as law enforcement, public works, parks and recreation, animal control, and more.
Collection of the tax provides 21 percent of the county's total general fund revenue.
“Our disciplined spending and budgeting practices along with the county’s growing economic vitality allow us to stay committed to lowing tax rates when possible,” said Judge/Executive Gary Moore, in a news release.
