Burlington Announces Opening Date for Newport Store
Burlington Stores announced Tuesday its opening date for the new location in Newport.
It was first announced last October that Burlington would open a location at Newport Plaza (1301 Monmouth Street). The new location will open on September 13.
The Newport store replaces the one in Latonia, which has already closed on Winston Avenue, leaving the Latonia Shopping Center without a prominent anchor following the previous closure of Value City Furniture.
Burlington said in a news release that the new location in Newport "will feature an updated and fresh layout" with low-priced brand-name merchandise.
“We are thrilled to remain in the Newport community, providing local residents with a new shopping experience for the entire family. Whether they’re looking for brand-name clothing, stylish home décor items, or anything for baby, customers will enjoy significant savings and discover new merchandise arrivals each week,” said Tom Kingsbury, CEO and chairman, Burlington Stores.
At the grand opening celebration on Friday, September 13, a ceremonial ribbon-cutting will take place at 9:15 a.m. followed by the store's opening at 9:30 a.m. The first 500 customers will receive a free Burlington tote bag.
The celebration continues on Saturday, September 14 when it opens at 9:30 a.m. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the store is hosting a day of family fun with gift card giveaways, kids activities, a DJ, and more, a news release said.
The new location is more than 39,000-square feet and will be open Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Fifty-five employees were hired to work at the Newport store.
As part of its philanthropic efforts, Burlington said it will donate $10,000 to a nearby school to fund materials for teachers and students, in partnership with Adtop A Classroom.
