Accused Bank Robber Arrested in Florence
A man accused of robbing a Northern Kentucky bank was arrested in Florence on Wednesday night.
The Boone County Sheriff's Office reports that Marvin D. Ratliff, 61, of Cincinnati, was taken into custody at the Super 8 motel on Dream Street and is charged with first degree robbery.
Investigators believe that Ratliff robbed the L&N Federal Credit Union in Erlanger on Saturday.
The Florence Police Department and Hamilton County Sheriff's Office aided in the investigation and arrest.
Detectives received an anonymous tip, a news release said, identifying Ratliff as a person of interest in the bank robbery.
Florence Police were working on a report of a stolen license plate from St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence on Saturday morning, and that alleged crime was linked to the bank robbery.
Ratliff's residence in Cheviot, Ohio was searched.
Eventually, Ratliff's vehicle was located Wednesday at the Super 8 where Ratliff was found outside near the vending machines and taken into custody.
More than $1,000 in cash was recovered along with what investigators called "a trafficking amount of fentanyl". He is also charged with first degree trafficking in controlled substance.
Ratliff has been lodged at the Boone County Jail and is being held on a $250,000 cash bond.
