From family-friendly to frightfully fun, here is a list of Halloween happenings in Northern Kentucky:

Throughout October

USS Nightmare 

Ticket booth opens at 7 p.m., doors open at 7:30 p.m.

B&B Riverboats, Newport

Listed closing times are for ticket booth only. All ticketed patrons in line at closing times are guaranteed entry. No additional patrons will be allowed to enter the line once ticket booth has closed.

Friday, Oct. 18 

The Haunted Halloweens Trail

7-10 p.m.

Middleton-Mills park, 3415 Mills Road, Covington

The quarter-mile long trail is filled with fright and drama. Ghosts, goblins, witches, and creatures are ready to frighten those attending. Stay upon the torch lit trail and you may survive. At 10 P.M. the gate at the entrance will close. Everyone in line before this time will be able to walk the trail. There is a shelter house at the end of the Haunted Trail where survivors may wish to sample complimentary Bat’s Blood (punch) served by Ghostesses. Concessions will be available through Northern Kentucky Baseball. Parking is at the Football Field. There will be a hayride shuttle that will take participants back to their vehicles. Recommended for children aged 6 and up.

Cost: Either a non-perishable food or personal care item donation for Be Concerned or $1 per person

Saturday, Oct. 19

Halloween Happenings: Kid’s Fun Day and Character Trail

1-4 p.m.

Middleton-Mills park, 3415 Mills Road, Covington

This trail is an opportunity for kids of all ages to meet a few friendly characters and get a sweet treat. There will also be Halloween games that are fun for the whole family.

Free, but donations or non-perishable food and personal care items for Be Concerned will be accepted.

Halloween Carnival

5:30-9 p.m.

Erlanger Train Depot Park

3313 Crescent Ave., Erlanger

Features kids’ carnival games and showing of The Nightmare Before Christmas at 7:30 p.m.


Sunday, Oct. 20

Spooky Sunday

3:45 p.m.

At 3:45 guests will assemble at St. Pius for the Costume Parade. The parade will travel to President’s Park at 4 p.m. There will be a magic show, costume judging for ages 3 and under, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12.

At 4:30 p.m. guests can visit The Haunted Forest. Children will receive a trick or treat bag while supplies last.

Saturday, Oct. 26

AJ Jolly’s Spooktacular Halloween Event

noon-3 p.m.

Children 12 and under can Trick or Treat along a friendly trail from noon to 3 p.m.

Costume contests infants to adults begin at 2 p.m., categories are infants, kids 2-4, kids 5-7 and kids 7-12, teens and adults. There will be hayrides, bounce houses, games, vendors, food, drinks and fall crafts.

Suggested donation $5 per vehicle.

Fall Fest/Trunk-or-Treat/Chili Cook-Off
1-4 p.m.

Fort Mitchell City Building and Fort Mitchell Baptist Church
Park at Blessed Sacrament School. To register for Chili Cook-Off, Trunk-or-Treat or to volunteer visit www.fortmitchell.com.

For the chili cook-off, submit entries in a crock pot at 1 p.m. in front of Fort Mitchell Baptist Church (provide serving spoon or ladle). Taste testing and voting are open to the public and begin at 1:30 p.m. Winners will be announced at 2:30 p.m.

Trunk-or-Treat will be 3-4 p.m.
There will be a costume contest (Infants to age 12), pony rides, petting zoo, live entertainment, a pumpkin decoration station, Spooky Trail through the city building, touch-a-fire-truck and inflatables.


Sunday, Oct. 27

The Haunted Library: It Was All a Dream

2-4:30 p.m.

William E. Durr Branch of the Kenton County Libary, Indepndence

Thrills, chills and laughs await all who dare to enter. Please bring a canned good or non- perishable food item for charity donation. Ideal for ages 7 and up. 

Halloween Skating Carnival

5-7 p.m.

Jimmie’s Rollerdrome

Monday, Oct. 28

Florence Community Band presents Spooktacular Halloween Concert

7:30 p.m.

Florence Government Center, Lower Level Community Rooms, 8100 Ewing Blvd, Florence
Refreshments will be provided following the concert.

City of Florence 17th Annual Halloween Night Out

5-7 p.m.

Florence Government Center

Event includes tick or treating, vendors and games.
