CVG's Fares Lowest in the Region; New Escape Lounge Opens
The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) has the lowest airfares in the region, according to new data released by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Among the top 100 domestic airports, CVG ranked 74 with an average fare of $346, which is 5 percent lower than the national average of $364.
By comparison, Dayton ranked highest in the region, at #5 nationally, with an average fare of $438. Lexington ranked 21 with an average fare of 407, Louisville was #21 with an average of $387, Columbus was 56 with an average of 364, and Indianapolis was 57 with an average of $363.
In a news release, CVG Airport noted that data related to Frontier Airlines was not included in the latest figures. The discount carrier offers multiple flights from CVG.
CVG also said that it has set local passenger records in sixteen of the past seventeen months.
Meanwhile, the latest entertainment offering at the airport will open on Thursday.
The Escape Lounge in Concourse B is described as an all-inclusive premium common use airport lounge open to all travelers. The lounge's partner chef, Alfio Gulisano, is also part of the popular Cincinnati restaurants Butcher & Barrel and Che.
Guests entering the lounge will receive unlimited amenities that include hot and cold food and beverages, plush and relaxing seating with ample power outlets, high-speed Wi-Fi, up-to-the-second flight information and access to more than 7,000 digital publications in more than 60 languages from more than 120 countries, as well as traditional printed media including GQ, Vogue, Newsweek, and USA Today, a news release said.
The lounge opens Thursday at 8:30 a.m.
