Thomas More Ranked #21 in NAIA Women's Basketball Poll
In their first season as an NAIA program, the Thomas More Saints are ranked #21 in a newly released preseason women's basketball poll.
The coaches poll revealed the nation's top twenty-five programs based on votes from NAIA coaches.
Last year, the Saints went 33-0 and won the NCAA Division III national title.
Thomas More returns nine players and three starters from that squad under the guidance of head coach Jeff Hans, who is in his ninth season.
Senior forward Emily Schultz, a Bishop Brossart High School graduate, averaged 11.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game last season and is back on the court this year for TMU. Senior guard Kaela Saner, a Boone County High School graduate, is also back after shooting 47.8 percent from three-point range last year. She averaged 9.7 points per game. Junior guard Briana McNutt, a Mason County High School graduate, averaged 6.2 points last year and dished out 46 assists.
Thomas More competes in the Mid-South Conference this year with other teams ranked in the national poll like #2 Campbellsville, #11 Shawnee State, #15 Lindsey Wilson, as well as Georgetown and Pikeville who each received votes but did not rank in the top 25.
The season starts Friday when Thomas More visits Cincinnati Christian.
