FOX Sports Ohio to Carry Some NKU Basketball Games
Five home games of the Northern Kentucky men's basketball team will be broadcast on FOX Sports Ohio, the university announced.
ESPN will also broadcast some of NKU's home and Horizon League games, the school previously announced.
The team’s Dec. 8 meeting with Eastern Kentucky marks the first FOX Sports Ohio broadcast, with two additional December contests following shortly thereafter. NKU plays both Illinois State (Dec. 15) and Milwaukee (Dec. 28) on the regional sports network.
Oakland and UIC, which are scheduled for Feb. 6 and 16, respectively, are also airing on FOX Sports Ohio.
NKU’s regular season opens on ESPN3 on Nov. 5 when the Norse host UC-Clermont. The team’s following three home games versus Coppin State (Nov. 17), Texas Southern (Nov. 23), and Midway (Ky.) (Nov. 25), as well as Horizon League contests at Detroit Mercy (Jan. 3) and against Youngstown State (Jan. 16), will also be carried on ESPN3.
Both of Northern Kentucky’s games against SEC opponents, a Nov. 8 showdown at Missouri and a Nov. 29 clash at Arkansas, are being carried by SEC+, while ESPN+ is set to carry the road contest against Coastal Carolina on Nov. 12 and Horizon League match-ups with Green Bay (Dec. 30), Oakland (Jan. 5), and Cleveland State (Jan. 18).
Eight games have yet to be announced, including road contests against MAC foes Ball State and Miami (Ohio) as well as the trip to reigning Southern Conference regular-season champion UNC Greensboro. Five Horizon League games near the end of the season have also not been determined.
The Norse have three games that will air on ESPN’s linear stations, beginning with the team’s trip to Chicago to battle the Flames on ESPN2 on Jan. 10. Each of the two match-ups against rival Wright State will be carried on ESPNU. NKU’s ESPN wildcard game against Green Bay will either air on ESPNU, if picked up as the wildcard, or ESPN3.
Meanwhile, twenty-five games played by the NKU women's team will also be broadcast by ESPN+ or ESPN3.
Ten of NKU’s games this season will be carried on ESPN3, while 15 will be carried on ESPN+, the latter which can be accessed through the ESPN App. The ESPN App is available on multiple devices including smart phones, computers, tablets, game consoles and streaming devices. The service costs $4.99 per month or $49.99 for an annual subscription.
Seven of NKU’s eleven non-conference games have confirmed digital streams. The Norse will broadcast all of their home games through ESPN, with Saint Louis (Nov. 12), Louisville (Dec. 8), and Wofford (Dec. 20) on ESPN+, while the Nebraska-Omaha (Nov. 21) and Central Arkansas (Nov. 25) games will be on ESPN3.
Of the non-conference away games, Belmont has confirmed an ESPN+ broadcast for its Nov. 17 game against the Norse, while the Dec. 16 game at Indiana State will be on ESPN3.
During the Horizon League slate, all 18 games of the regular season will be carried on either ESPN+ or ESPN3. The Horizon League Championship, which will be held on campus sites for the first and second rounds on March 3 and 5 before moving to Indiana Farmers Coliseum in Indianapolis for the semifinals and finals on March 9-10, will also be carried through either ESPN+ or ESPN3 with the championship game broadcast on ESPNU.
The Norse give fans a first glimpse of the 2019-20 season in less than a week when Northern Kentucky hosts Davis & Elkins for a Halloween exhibition at 7 p.m. on Oct. 31.
