Thomas More Off to 2-0 Start After Skyline Chili Classic
Thomas More women's basketball is off to a hot start, as the #21-ranked team in the nation put away two opponents on back-to-back nights in Cincinnati.
The Saints won both of their games in the Skyline Chili Classic hosted by Cincinnati Christian.
Thomas More beat the hosts, 85-53 on Friday led by a game-high 15 points from first-year guard Courtney Hurst, a Conner grad.
Saturday night proved to be a closer match-up but the Saints held off Rochester (Minn.), 74-64.
Rochester stormed to a lead in the second half with a 17-2 run that put them on top of the Saints, 51-44, with under five minutes to play in the third quarter.
But Thomas More answered with a 14-2 run of its own to retake the lead 58-53 heading into the final quarter.
Thomas More would lead by as many as thirteen points before winning by ten.
Senior guard Kaela Saner, a Boone County High School product, led the team with 17 points. Senior forward Emily Schultz, a Bishop Brossart grad, added 15, while first-year guard Zoie Barth, from Highlands, scored 13. Hurst added 10.
Thomas More takes a break until November 5 when it plays Indiana University - East in Richmond, Indiana.
