Convicted Child Rapist Mistakenly Released in Georgia is Found in Campbell Co.
A man convicted of raping a child in Georgia was mistakenly released from a prison there.
On Wednesday night, he was re-arrested in Fort Thomas, according to Georgia Department of Corrections.
Tony Maycon Munoz-Mendez, 31, was located in a home in Fort Thomas following a manhunt led by the Georgia Department of Corrections Fugitive Unit, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, and Immigration Control and Enforcement (ICE) agencies.
Munoz-Mendez was convicted of aggravated child molestation in 2015.
He is being held at the Campbell County Detention Center.
Georgia officials did not say how the man was mistakenly released from Rogers State Prison on Monday when they announced the error and called for public assistance in locating Munoz-Mendez.
