Cullick Appointed to Campbell Library Board
The Campbell County Public Library's new board of trustees member is Jonathan S. Cullick.
The Northern Kentucky University English professor was appointed to the board on Thursday by Campbell County Judge/Executive Steve Pendery.
He will fill the unexpired term of Carla Landon, who resigned in July. The term expires September 30, 2021.
"Jon has a wealth of administration experience and a passion for promoting reading and literacy," said CCPL Director J.C. Morgan. "We know he will be a tireless leader and advocate for the library."
When Dr. Cullick and his wife, Cheryl, moved to Bellevue in 2002, one of the first things they did was visit the Newport branch of the Campbell County Library to get library cards.
They have participated in many library programs in the seventeen years since and have a little library (to deposit and distribute free books) in their front yard.
Cullick chaired the NKU English department from 2009 to 2013 and was named College Teacher of the Year by the Kentucky Council of Teachers in 2019. He used the study rooms at the library recently to complete his newest scholarly work, Mockingbird Grows Up: Re-Reading Harper Lee Since Watchman with colleague Cheli Reutter, to be published in January.
By law, the board must maintain a balanced geographical representation of all areas of the county. In keeping with that law, candidates from the Newport, Bellevue, and Dayton area were considered.
