NKU Picks Up Road Win at Coastal Carolina
Northern Kentucky picked up a win on the road at Coastal Carolina on Tuesday night.
The Norse held off the Chanticleers, 69-68.
Karl Harris came off the NKU bench to score 22, including 15 from 3-point range on 5-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc.
Jalen Tate and Trevon Faulkner added 13 points apiece.
The Norse led 67-66 late in the game when Harris grabbed an offensive rebound, was fouled, and made both free throws, extending the lead to 69-66. On the ensuing plays, NKU got a defensive stop but when Dantez Walton was sent to the line he missed the first free throw of a one-and-one opportunity. He was then called for a foul but Coastal Carolina's Garrick Green missed the first of his free throws and made the second, a bank shot from an apparent effort to miss intentionally so as to set up his team for an offensive rebound opportunity.
NKU returns home to Highland Heights on Sunday to host Coppin State at 2 p.m.
The Norse are 2-1 on the season.
NKU women fall at home
The women's basketball team fell big at BB&T Arena, 67-42 to Saint Louis.
NKU is now 0-2 to start the season.
Molly Glick led the Norse with 10 points and 7 rebounds.
Northern Kentucky heads to Nashville for a pair of road games later this week starting with a visit to Lipscomb on Friday at 7:30 p.m., and then a Sunday afternoon date with Belmont.
