Circus Mojo, Bircus Brewing to Celebrate Anniversaries

Ludlow-based Bircus Brewing Company and Circus Mojo will celebrate their first and tenth anniversaries, respectively, next Wednesday.

Both are the brainchild of clown and self-described "chief goof officer" Paul Miller.

The party next week will include bands, circus performances, beer tappings, and more, Miller said.

This day long celebration will include special releases of Bircus Brewing Co.’s “Amish Collusion”, a collaboration beer with Amish Bowling Alley Brewerks of Huntsville, Alabama.

Various beers will be released at different times in the day: Chocolate Donut Imperial Stout at 2 p.m., followed by a fruited Sipping Panda Sour Brown at 4 p.m., a Ginger Snap Imperial Stout at 6 p.m., Strawberry Daiquiri NEIPA at 8 p.m., and then an Imperial Espresso Milk Stout at 10 p.m.

In honor of the anniversary, Bircus Brewing Company will also be releasing bottled beers for the first time. Limited numbers of the Chocolate Donut and Ginger Snap Stouts will be available, as well as a bottle only Sour Blonde with peaches, honey and Brettanomyces.

Circus performances will kick off at 1 p.m. with a workshop open to anyone interested in having some fun and learning circus skills.

Bands including Hayden Kaye, Abdo Men, Lagniappe, late-night DJs, and more will perform with Dada Smokes BBQ serving up their awesome food throughout the day.

Ten years ago, in November 2009 Circus Mojo came to Ludlow with the purchase of a former factory/movie theatre that had been empty for 8 years. The Ludlow Theatre has been transformed into one of the most unique destinations in the region thanks to the dedicated staff, investors and circus artists and coaches from the United States and 35 nations, Miller said.

“Circus Mojo & The Bircus Brewing Co. excel in bringing international partners to the United States to create impactful promotions and performances," said Chris Simpson of the U.S. Commercial Services, in a statement. "The resulting travel, tourism and education spending are all counted as U.S. exports and make measurable economic impacts to the local economy. As the U.S. Government’s export promotion arm, the U.S. Commercial Service is happy to support businesses, such as Circus Mojo and Bircus, to achieve their exporting goals.”
