Florence Freedom Name New Manager

The Florence Freedom announced Wednesday that the club promoted Brian White to serve as field manager.

White previously served as pitching and catching coach.

Last week, it was announced that previous manager Dennis Pelfrey was called up to the San Francisco Giants organization to serve as manager of the Class A-Advanced San Jose Giants.

White has been with the Freedom for five seasons, three of which have seen the club in the Frontier League's postseason.

“He’s been with me since I started in Florence and is more than ready to take over the Florence team.” said Pelfrey, in a statement. “We’ve been the best team in the league over the last three seasons and he will continue the winning tradition.”

In his five seasons, White’s pitching expertise has led to ten pitchers being signed by Major League Basbeall clubs.

White is looking forward to moving up within the organization and continuing what Pelfrey has built in Florence.

“The goal is to always win a championship every year.” said White. “However, we’ll take things one day at a time and work to get better each day.”

The Florence Freedom open the season and play their first regular season game with White as field manager on May 14, against the New Jersey Jackals.
