Fabulous Furs, Hotel Covington Celebrate Anniversaries
Fabulous Furs celebrated its thirtieth anniversary and Hotel Covington celebrated its third during a special event on Thursday.
More than 250 people attended the celebration at Hotel Covington which was emceed by WCPO news anchor Tanya O'Rourke and included remarks from Covington Mayor Joseph Meyer, Salyers Group President & CEO Guy van Rooyen, and Donna Salyers of Fabulous Furs.
In addition to delivering a proclamation in honor of both Donna Salyers and her husband, Jim, Mayor Meyer announced the “unofficial” renaming of West 11th Street to The Fabulous West 11th Street in recognition of the local pride and international success of Fabulous Furs, which is located on West Eleventh.
“The Salyers’ creativity, energy, entrepreneurial spirit – and just plain hard work – is making Covington a special place,” said Meyer.
The 30 & Three Celebration also featured a Fabulous Furs fashion show and specialty cocktails, and food by Coppin’s at Hotel Covington.
“Building a sewing kit project into a global fashion business is beyond anything I could imagine and our Luxe Collection could hold its own in Paris or Milan. I couldn’t be more proud of what our amazing team has accomplished together,” said Donna Salyers. “Being surrounded by so many people who have helped, supported and sweat along with me for the last 30 years truly made the evening fabulous!”
Hotel Covington opened in the former Coppin's Department Store building, which also served as Covington City Hall previously, in 2016. The 114-room hotel has welcomed thousands of guests since then.
