Edgewood Honors Retiring Fire Chief

The City of Edgewood honored Fire Chief Chris Amon at its recent city council meeting, with Mayor John Link declaring December 1 to be Chris Amon Day in the city.

Amon is set to retire.

He first joined the Edegwood Fire Department in 1996 as a firefighter/EMT.

Amon will be honored at a luncheon on Tuesday.

In other council business, Mayor Link reported that the Building Industry Association of Northern Kentucky, formerly the Home Builders Association, talked at the recent Kenton County Mayors Group meeting about the thickness requirements for pavement.

Costs are high, the association said, according to Link.

The requirements also vary across counties, with one example in Walton provided since it is in both Kenton and Boone counties.

Meanwhile, Link reminded the public that the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is hosting a public open house to share ideas about planned improvements to Turkeyfoot Road.

It is scheduled for Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Link told council members that there will be a gathering at Thomas More on December 3 from 5 to 8 pm to share ideas on the Turkeyfoot road improvements.  Both Link and CAO Brian Dehner encouraged everyone to go and bring up the intersection of Dudley and Turkeyfoot, as well as Dudley and Dixie Highway.

The city is still accepting letters to Santa at the city building through December 6.

Link also reminded the public that the day for Edgewood residents at the Behringer-Crawford museum is December 6 from 6 to 8 p.m.
