Beshear, Fletcher to Join Kids Voting NKY at Annual Luncheon
Two former Kentucky governors will join Kids Voting Northern Kentucky for its civic leadership awards luncheon next month.
The nonprofit, nonpartisan organization teaches young people about voting by offering ballots at certain precincts so that kids can participate in a mock election.
During the last presidential election, more than 11,000 Northern Kentucky children cast a special Kids Voting ballot at actual voting precincts. Additionally, dozens of students volunteered assembling ballot boxes, working polls and counting the vote.
The annual awards luncheon is a fundraiser for Kids Voting.
The Civic Leadership Award and Future Civic Leadership Awards will be presented on April 21 at the St. Elizabeth Training and Education Center in Erlanger. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. and lunch will be served at noon. The Awards program wraps up by 1:30 p.m. For more information, click here.
Steve Beshear served as governor from 2007 to 2015. Fletcher served from 2003 to 2007 and lost to Beshear in his reelection bid.
Tickets for the event are $50 a person.
