Ryle Principal Named Boone County Superintendent
Boone County Schools named Matthew Turner its new superintendent on Tuesday.
Turner currently serves as principal at Ryle High School, a position he has held for the past fourteen years. He starts his new role on July 1, replacing the retiring Dr. Randy Poe.
Boone County is Northern Kentucky's largest school district and Ryle is the region's largest high school.
Turner's career in education spans twenty-nine years and includes roles as assistant principal at Williamstown and Lloyd Memorial high schools, before taking that same role at Ryle where he eventually rose to principal.
He has also been a teacher and a coach.
“Matthew is known as a gifted leader and administrator throughout Kentucky," said school board president Matt McIntire. "We are excited to announce Mr. Turner as our next superintendent of Boone County Schools and to partner with him on behalf of our students. Matthew’s ability to lead teams centered on a shared vision will be vital as we build on the foundation of Achieving Excellence Together in our schools."
Turner also attended Harvard University's executive leadership program and the National Institute of School Leadership.
The search for Poe's replacement began four months ago.
