Newport to Host Virtual Public Forum for Comprehensive Plan Update
A virtual public forum is scheduled next week for the NewportFORWARD steering committee.
It is set for Thursday, June 18, at 6 p.m.
The committee is working to refine the goals and objectives of the 2020 comprehensive plan update.
The virtual public forum will remain open to the public until July 5.
The meeting will include a live overview presentation of the planning process, the initial discovery findings, and the draft goals for the city’s future.
The virtual platform will then lead attendees through a series of topics including strong vibrant neighborhoods, economic prosperity, environmental sustainability, and others, allowing attendees to provide thoughts, concerns, and ideas about how the city can successfully move forward in the next ten years.
The policies and implementation strategies in the comprehensive plan update ultimately affect day-to-day experience in the city by providing guidance on important topics like future mobility and travel options; what new development should look like; priority locations for park improvements; and how the public interacts with social, economic, and natural environments.
