Two Erlanger Police Cruisers Struck in Separate DUI Incidents
Two Erlanger Police cruisers were damaged by two different drivers accused of operating their vehicles while intoxicated.
One Erlanger officer was injured.
Two Erlanger cruisers were on the scene of a traffic stop on northbound Interstate 75 just before 4 a.m. Sunday. One cruiser was leaving the scene with two people from the stopped vehicle because neither was licensed to drive a car. Another car, headed northbound, struck that cruiser.
Officer Megan Ryle suffered minor injuries and was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital and later released. The two passengers also reported minor injuries but refused to be transported to the hospital.
Christopher Markey, of Cincinnati, was taken into custody by Ft. Mitchell Police and charged with driving under the influence and failure to produce insurance card.
Meanwhile, as Ft. Mitchell Police were working on the scene of that crash, another driver failed to stop in congested traffic and struck a vehicle that was pushed into an Erlanger Police cruiser.
No injuries were reported from that collision though the interstate was briefly shut down.
Hugo Aguilon was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, second degree wanton endangerment, no operator's license, failure to produce insurance card, and possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle.
Erlanger, Ft. Mitchell, and Villa Hills police departments are jointly investigating.
