Thomas More Basketball: Women Win, Men Fall at the Cumberlands
Thomas More's basketball teams split games at the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg on Saturday.
The eighth-ranked women's team stretched its season-opening win streak to 10, downing Cumberlands, 65-63.
Sophomore Emily Simon was fouled with 14 seconds left in the game and made one of two free throws to secure the final score.
With the win, the Saints are 10-0 overall and 5-0 in the Mid-South Conference.
The Saints were led by Campbell County grad Taylor Clos with 17 points, while Highlands grad Zoe Barth put in 13 and Campbell County grad Kenzie Schwarber was perfect from the field, scoring 9 points.
Thomas More is back in action on Monday at Georgetown with a 2 p.m. tip-off.
The men's team fell short in Williamsburg, losing to the Cumberlands, 70-63.
The Saints are 3-2 on the season, including an 0-2 mark in the Mid-South.
Campbell County grad Reid Jolly led Thomas More with 26 points while Noah Pack added 14 and Ryan Batte scored 10.
On Monday, the Saints are back in action at Shawnee State in Portsmouth, Oh. with a 6 p.m. tip-off.
