Thomas More Women's Basketball Assume #1 Ranking
The Thomas More women's basketball team jumped three spots to the top of the NAIA Coaches Poll rankings.
The Saints are ranked #1 for the first time since rejoining the NAIA.
TMU was last ranked #1 in the 2018-19 season en route to winning the NCAA Division III national championship.
In recent weeks, Thomas More defeated former #1 Campbellsville and other ranked opponents Lindsey Wilson, Shawnee State, and the University of the Cumberlands which had been receiving votes in the poll.
The Saints also defeated #5 Marion on the road earlier this season.
TMU is 21-1 overall and 16-1 in the Mid-South Conference.
Thomas More currently sits at number 5 in the NAIA in total 3-pt field goals made with 201. The Saints rank 14th in scoring defense per game (56.91) and 17th in total scoring offense (1,612).
Sophomore Courtney Hurst is 6th in the NAIA in individual 3-pt field goals made, knocking in 63 up to this point. Hurst also ranks 22nd in 3-pt field goals per game averaging three per. Sophomore Zoie Barth ranks 31st in total steals with 47. Barth also ranks 40th in free throw percentage, shooting 83.6% from the charity stripe and 44th in total assists with 68.
Thomas More will return to action on Friday to face off with Bethel in the Connor Convocation Center. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
