freshART Returns to Devou Park to Benefit Behringer-Crawford Museum
The annual celebration of art which serves as a major fundraiser for Covington's Behringer-Crawford Museum returns later this summer.
FreshART brings artists to Devou Park to create original pieces that are then auctioned off, with the funds benefitting youth education programs.
It is scheduled for Saturday, September 18 from 6 to 9:30 p.m.
This year marks the 29th freshART event.
Tickets are $75 per person and include cocktails and a light dinner followed by a live and lively auction of “fresh” art created en plein air by dozens of artists in Devou Park during the previous week. To reserve or for more information, go to www.bcmuseum.org or call 859-491-4003.
There will also be a silentART auction featuring previously created paintings, ceramics, jewelry and more, which will open at the museum on Thursday, August 19 from 6 to 9 p.m. during the final Music@BCM concert featuring the Company. Also on display will be artwork by local high school students in the third annual Connie O’Donnell Student Invitational. The student show and the silentART auction with mobile bidding will continue through the freshART event on September 18.
A portion of the sale price of each auctioned piece will go to the artist with the balance donated to the museum, benefiting area children through BCM’s educational programs. Submitted freshART works will be judged by a panel of experts, with $1000 in cash prizes awarded to the first, second and third-place entries by the William & Patricia Applegate Fund.
Since freshART began in 1992, more than $600,000 has been raised, bringing educational and cultural activities to more than 275,000 Northern Kentucky children.
