Jeopardy! Contestant Fail Clue About Roebling Bridge

The John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge is a significant piece of transportation, architecture, and history locally.

But in an appearance on TV game show Jeopardy! on Monday, it was clear that that renown does not extend far beyond our local region.

In the second half of the show, where clues are worth double the prize in the first half, contestant Elena Passarello selected a $1,600 clue in the National Historic Landmarks category.

Host Ken Jennings read the clue as an image of the Roebling Bridge and the Cincinnati skyline appeared on stage.

"Landmarks in two states include the 155-year-old bridge connecting Covington, Kentucky, to this city.”

In Jeopardy!, of course, the answer is given to the contestants who then reply with what they hope is the correct question.

Elena rang in and said, "What is Louisville?"

Jennings let her know that she was wrong.

The other two contestants stood stone-faced, never ringing in to try.

After time expired, Jennings offered the correct question, "What is Cincinnati?"

Cincinnati City Councilman Chris Seelbach shared this clip on his Facebook page:
