Burlington Woman Wins $100,000 Prize in Lottery Scratch-Off Game
A Burlington woman won $100,000 on a Kentucky Lottery scratch-off game.
The woman, who asked to remain anonymous, purchased a $30 Gold Rush ticket at JD's Food Mart on Burlington Pike after cashing in a previous winning ticket, lottery officials said.
While scratching off the ticket at home, she matched the number 42 on the second to last row. The game’s $100,000 top prize was located below the 42.
“I always expect to win thirty dollars but was very surprised to see one hundred thousand. I started calling for my fiancé and handed him the ticket and said, Please tell me I’m seeing this right,” she said.
“We were jumping up and down and hugging.”
The Boone County woman drove to lottery headquarters in Louisville on Wednesday where she received a check for $71,000, after taxes.
She told lottery officials that she would like to use the winnings toward home renovations.
“I can sit back and take time to decide what I want to do," she said
“(The winnings) will make my life so much simpler.”
JD’s Food Mart will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the ticket.
