Norse Bounce Back, Beat Cleveland State 70-55
Northern Kentucky bounced back from last week's loss to Wright State in a battle for the top spot in the Horizon League by beating back Cleveland State Monday night at BB&T Arena in Highland Heights.
Mason Faulkner led all scorers with 16 points while Drew McDonald added 14, Carson Williams put in 12, and Lavone Holland II contributed 8.
The game started roughly for the Norse and the game was tied at 17 with 6:27 to play in the first half but an 11-0 run put NKU, which led 37 to 21 at the half, up for good.
Cleveland State (4-15, 1-5) could only get as close as 13 points down in the second half. NKU led by as many as 25 when Jeff Garrett's slam dunk put the Norse up 58 to 33 with 8:33 left in the game.
Northern Kentucky improved to 12-6 on the season and 5-1 in the Horizon League. The Norse are 8-1 at home.
NKU travels to Milwaukee (9-11, 2-5) on Thursday for an 8 p.m. tip-off.
NKU women fall to Cleveland State, 70-65
Cleveland State held off the Norse women Monday night, winning 70-65. Northern Kentucky was led by Grace White who posted a career high 18 points. Molly Glick added 18 points, including 5 three-pointers. Kailey Coffey posted 13 points and 11 rebounds in the losing effort.
NKU falls to 4-13 overall and 2-4 in the Horizon League.
