$3.5 Million Road Project Expected to Improve Access to Ark Encounter
A highway improvement project is ready to start on KY 36 in Williamstown.
“This project will greatly improve the I-75 ramps at this exit as well as the roadway leading to the Ark Encounter," said Bob Yeager, chief district engineer for KYTC District 6.
The improvements include grading the northbound and southbound exit ramps which will improve sight distance and increase ramp width. KY 36, west of the I-75 overpass, will see roadway widening to the Ark Encounter entrance east of Lynwood.
KY 2943 (Skyway Drive) will also be reconstructed and relocated for better access.
The contractor plans to start utility work Wednesday, Jan. 24, weather permitting. The main construction will start in the spring. Motorists should be mindful of lane closures and traffic control in the work zone.
Eaton Asphalt Paving Co. Inc., of Walton, was awarded the low bid contract for $3.5 million.
The project has a Nov. 1 completion date.
