RCN Snags 9 Nominations at 2018 Blue Chip Media Awards

The River City News is nominated for 9 Blue Chip Media Awards for its multimedia work over the past year.

This represents the most nominations that RCN has ever received for the Blue Chips, which recognize independent media and cable access productions across Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati.

RCN intern Becca Wallace, a senior at the Kenton County School District, received five nominations, four for her video highlighting the renaissance of the Pike Street/Madison Avenue corridor in Covington and another for her youth-oriented podcast.

RCN Live! Holiday Special, a live panel discussion that featured a fun and intense discussion of local issues, is nominated for two awards.

Two other podcasts, RCN Music with Jesse Waits: Moonshine Drive and RCN Talks Trump, Bevin, and NKY with Ex-Gov. Steve Beshear, were also nominated.

"I'm proud of the work that The River City News does every day, but this past year offered us a chance to collaborate with more people and to have them recognized as nominees is important to me," said Michael Monks, founder, editor, and publisher of RCN. "This will be the third year that RCN is well-represented at the Blue Chips and I'm thankful that the organization includes us so that some deserving people who make so many of my ideas come to life can be honored."
