Ludlow K9 Had Suspect in Grips When He Fled to Ohio River, Disappeared
A man wanted on rape and other charges was in the grips of a Ludlow Police K9 when he fled to the Ohio River, and disappeared.
Robert Kasee, 34, was wanted on charges by Cincinnati Police. He had been spotted in Villa Hills, but when officers from that city's police department attempted to arrest him, Kasee fled to the nearby woods.
Ludlow Police were called to assist, and K9 Oakley and his handler Lt. Bart Beck pursued Kasee to the riverbanks where the dog was able to get hold of him.
But as Kasee ran into the river, the dog let go.
Ludlow Police Chief Scott Smith told The River City News on Thursday that officers called for Kasee to return to shore with the promise that the dog would no longer attack.
Instead, Kasee disappeared into the water.
Reports indicate that the suspect is presumed dead.
The case remains under investigation.
