Man Shot in Covington Paralyzed, Police Seek Shooter
The man shot late Thursday morning in Covington is now paralyzed from the chest down.
Police continue their search for the suspect.
According to an arrest warrant for suspect She'Mar Michael-Shave Herrick, officers found Raekwan Sterling wounded in his back on the 100 block of West Tenth Street just after 11 a.m.
He was transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center. According to the warrant, Sterling "was paralyzed from the chest down."
Herrick allegedly drove to 10th Street to sell marijuana to Sterling.
Sterling told investigators that in the midst of that transaction, he saw Herrick draw a small, semi-automatic handgun. When Sterling attempted to run away, he was shot in the back.
Herrick fled the scene. Police located his vehicle in City Heights, but did not find Herrick.
According to the arrest warrant, police have had contact with Herrick before while he was driving the same vehicle.
